Whether you’re constantly traveling for work or always on the go visiting friends around the world, being able to travel is one of the perks of being a young professional. You shouldn’t sacrifice that just because you want to stay in shape. After all, if you don’t travel, how will you be able to fill your Instagram with new selfies? Here are 10 ways to stay fit while you travel.

  1. Find a park. As soon as you set down in a new place, do a quick recon trip to figure out where the closest park is. If you’re lucky, it’ll have a set of monkey bars for pull-ups. At the very least, you’ll find a path and some space for an improvised workout.
  2. Turn your hotel room into a gym. There are plenty of exercises you can do right in your hotel room. Do a core move like sit-ups, a leg move like lunges, and an upper body move like push-ups. Boom, exercised.
  3. Use the actual hotel gym. Depending on what part of the world you’re in, your hotel might have its own gym in-house. Sure, it might be a dinky assortment of treadmills and free weights, but it’ll get the job done while you’re out of town.
  4. Embrace internet workouts. You turn to Pinterest for smoothie recipes and DIY ideas; why should workouts be any different? Google quick workouts you can do in minimal space to find something that suits your traveling schedule.
  5. Go for a run. Regardless of what part of the world you’re in, there will always be roads and sidewalks. If you pack your running shoes, you’ll be able to go for a run no matter how far you travel—and take a Snapchat video that will make your friends at home jealous.
  6. Rely on your own body weight. Bodyweight moves like push-ups are good go-to exercises when you’re stuck in a hotel room on a business trip. Again, asking the internet for help putting together a comprehensive bodyweight workout will probably be your best bet here.
  7. Make the airport your hiking path. If you have a layover that’s going to last a few hours, do a lap or two around the terminals. Just walking from one end of a major airport to the other could burn off the cocktail you had on the plane.
  8. Bring a jump rope. You can’t fit your entire home gym into a carry-on, but you can bring a jump rope. Jump ropes are the perfect way to squeeze an effective and fun cardio workout into even the smallest suitcase.
  9. Do some post-flight yoga. After a long plane ride, your body is going to be aching for some stretching anyway. So oblige and flow through a quick yoga sequence when you get to your hotel room.
  10. Get out and explore. Really, the best way to burn calories when you’re out and about is just to discover the new city you’re in. Lace up your walking shoes and hit the bricks to find the most tweetable spots near your hotel or AirBNB, and burn extra calories while you do it.
